A LOT Can Happen in a Year!
Some say time flies when you're having fun. It also seems to fly when you're not having nearly as much fun as you wish you were.
It was a year ago today that we had a massive blow dealt us. A year ago today that was the subject of a blog post I made on February 17th that to date has the highest number of reads out of anything I have posted. 167 folks decided to take a look. If you missed it, feel free to take a look:
My blogging isn't exactly anything that gets major attention (and why would it)? I really only started getting back into it a year or so ago after having been an active blogger for many years. I was surprised at the number of folks who wanted to see what was going on in our lives although I suspect the "drama factor" was super responsible for the jump in readers that day. It isn't like Brian was all of a sudden outed for being gay while having such a visually prominent and key leadership position in a church that preaches against homosexuality. It isn't like what happened with Mark Driscoll when his true narcissistic and abusive character was revealed ultimately leading to the closing of his mega church. A guy got fired which sadly, was happening left and right after our economy tanked. Not exactly huge news.
But what a difference a year makes!
A year ago who would have guessed that my husband would have worked in Rome with the Pope, worked in the White House with our current president and been on a set with the cast of the movie Interstellar? A year ago who would have guessed that despite our hardships we have started 2015 debt free? A year ago who would have thought that we would be in a position to generously give back to others?
The blessings God gives His children when they remain faithful and weather the storms He allows us to experience are AMAZING! It is so easy for us to lose sight of the good that can come from situations that are bad, that devastate us and leave us feeling completely hopeless and emotionally destroyed. On February 10, 2014, I don't think either my husband or myself could have ever dreamed we'd be where we are today. Praise God for that horrible event. I thank Him everyday for bringing Brian out of such a horribly toxic and deceitful environment. I thank Him for the fear and uncertainty we experienced when we lost all our income and our health insurance - that made us cling to Him all the more. I thank Him for the work He has brought to our home - both of us have jobs today! We can now afford health insurance which is a massively huge blessing since we deal with chronic medical conditions. We are blessed far beyond what we could have ever expected and even further beyond what we deserve.
When something bad happens to you, if you're currently going through a terrible storm, don't lose faith. Don't give up and don't worry. Your storm will end in His time and when it does, the blessings and lessons learned from it will so enrich your life you will look back and be so thankful.
I am so excited to see what blessings are in store and prepared for what storms God may allow in our lives going forward into this new year . We'll take the good and the bad trusting that no matter what, God will always be with us and provide everything He knows we need. NOTHING is impossible with God.
Blessings to all on this wonderful February day!
