Passport? CHECK!
Shots? CHECK!
Still working on making sure I have the things I need to pack for myself.
Still working on putting together a gift box for our sponsor child Edeline (who turned 10 last month!)
Still need to get Rx's to protect against Malaria and Typhoid and other icky things.
Still need to start exercising now for the work that lies ahead for us there. (if gardening kicked my tail I can't imagine what Haiti will do to an out of shape couch potato like me!)
I'm sure there are a few more "still needs" I've not listed as well!
I feel blessed not only to be going but to be going with the team of people God has placed me with. Granted, I don't know everyone well; some more than others and some not much at all. And by extension, some don't really know me either. But that doesn't really feel like it matters so much. Not to say it doesn't matter - you know what I mean. :) I know they all are some pretty awesome people and all have huge hearts for helping others and for Christ!
We are about $8,000 short of our financial need to go on this trip. Not too bad considering the cost for each of the 14 of us was about $2,200 give or take. There is still time to help us if you want to and haven't already.
If you'd like to offer your financial support to our team please, PLEASE let me know - pamela@pamelajmaddox.com or comment on this post and I will let you know how you can
help us reach our goal.

I would also ask EVERYONE reading this to please pray for our team and for the work God has planned for us. Please pray for the people we are going to meet and build relationships with. Please pray for the 60+ children that are being sponsored by our Grace Community Church family - the children we will get to visit during our trip.
I think back on periods of time of my life and if anyone had told me back in the day that I would be traveling to Haiti on a missions trip I'd have told them to get off what they were smoking. Seriously, I'm sure there are friends I have today that I also had back then who were surprised when they first learned I was going. Even now I sometimes find it hard to believe I'm going.
I would hear about teams going to various places throughout the world to help others and applaud them for their efforts. THEY were suited for that kind of stuff but not me. That just wasn't my thing and I could find something in my comfort zone to do to help others around here. Then for a reason known (at least at this point) only to God, I felt Him tug on my heart. I felt compelled to sponsor a child at church which then opened the door for one of our team leaders to give me a flyer about the upcoming trip. I knew that I had to go. It wasn't a "wow, that would be so cool, maybe some day" had to go feeling. I HAD TO GO on this trip.
Perhaps I need to go because there is something God knows I need that can only come from going on this trip. Maybe I need to go because my going will give something to someone else that God wants them to have. I've learned that regardless the reason, when God wants you to do something, you really should listen to Him.
So I'm listening.
Have a wonderfully blessed day friends!
