Welcome Packet!

This morning I went outside at 6am - into the cold, frozen Hoth - to start my car.  I had a nifty commute to pick Samantha up at her dad's and was irritated school wasn't delayed an hour or two.  It took 30 minutes but the car warmed up and I managed to chip off enough ice and snow to see out the windshield of my little VW Rabbit.

Commute wasn't terrible - that is to say there were no accidents, cars went ahead in a forward motion and the drive that takes about 20-25 minutes on a Saturday took almost a full 50 minutes.  Oh yeah - and all of this WITHOUT coffee and even another kicker:  I woke up a little after 4am.

Having dropped off the child at school I made my way home, parked the car and went to get the mail I didn't bother to get yesterday because it was snowing and it takes quite a lot for me to get my hind end outside when it is cold.  Getting the mail is low on the list.  What did I find?  Circular ads, bills (oh yay), junk mail and a large white envelope from Food for the Hungry!

My packet has arrived for our sponsor child Edeline!

Lack of caffeine and rush hour grumpiness seemed to fade away when I opened the envelope and began to learn a little more about this beautiful girl.

Isn't she ADORABLE?!?!?!?

Edeline is a second grader who loves to read and write and does well in school.  Her birthday is in April.  She lives with her aunt and likes to run.

Then I came across the letter she had written to her future sponsor.  The letter is short but so very sweet.  She says the weather where she lives is good and there are many trees.  :)  The letter also came with a drawing she made.

Funny how the contents of an envelope can make a smile appear on a grumpy, tired and cold face.  There truly is no greater joy than the joy felt knowing something you're doing is helping to encourage and build up another person.  Looks like today I'll be writing the first of many letters to Edeline!

If you have a desire to sponsor one of the many children who still need sponsors, let me know!  I bet it will be one of the most fulfilling things you do!

Please pray for Edeline, her aunt and those who live in her village.  Please pray for the many children who are still waiting for sponsors.

Have a wonderfully blessed day!
